The Opportunity

Finatal are representing one of the UK's fastest growing and already market leading IT services business, as it looks to appoint a Group Finance Director ahead of a shareholder event inside two years.

The business is highly profitable with revenues over £100m already. The business has expanded internationally in recent years, both organically and through acquisition, and has a clearly defined roadmap in place for significant growth ahead of a fundraising transaction.

Mentored by an experienced, strategic CFO looking to exit the business at a capital raising event, you will lead the finance team with broad responsibility for all of finance under the CFO's mentorship. The business is looking to appoint a future CFO with succession planning in mind and the role will be a superb platform for an ambitious candidate looking for a route to a CFO position in the near term.

The Role

Reporting directly into the CFO, the role holder will have broad responsibility for both accounting, reporting and control as well as FP&A/Commercial Finance. With significant M&A activity, the successful candidate will also work closely with the existing M&A team, focusing on FDD and integration.
  • As the Finance Director you'll be an integral part of the management team and will be leading the finance team of 15+ FTEs.
  • Further develop a strong and stable finance team, making improvements and ensuring the function is operating to the highest possible standard.
  • You will have full ownership of annual reporting (audit and tax).
  • You will develop and manage the annual budget and regular re-forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management.
  • Partner with the business to deliver timely and insightful analysis to support strategic decision making, working closely with the CFO on the ongoing strategy of the business.
  • Ensuring HMRC reporting is fully compliant and delivered on time.
  • Reviewing the tax implications of various financing options.
  • Carry out all necessary actions to ensure the company meets its legal and statutory obligations.
  • Key role in any fundraising or M&A activities.

The Requirement

A future CFO with the ability to step up in the near term, with succession planning in mind.
  • An experienced FD/HoF/GFC
  • ACA Qualified (likely Big 4 trained), with strong academics
  • Experience building a best-in-class finance function in a growing business, with demonstrable leadership skills and experience managing a team of 10+ FTEs.
  • Previously worked in an international business of scale, with a track record of developing and improving systems and processes.
  • Experience in M&A / integrations
  • Ambitious, dedicated and hardworking, with a strong track record of progression and success. Candidates will be analytical thinkers with excellent commercial acumen and strong interpersonal skills.
  • The natural gravitas to operate and influence at an executive level with the personality and emotional intelligence to engage with entrepreneurial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to operate, and excel, within a fast paced, challenging and changing environment.
  • Ideally, experience in managed services or an adjacent sector.
