Trainee Account Manager

Based in Littlehampton, West Sussex. The role is full time, permanent, Monday to Friday with a starting salary of £22,000+commission (after three months)
Purpose of the Role:

To contribute to the general smooth running of the sales department and the company by providing administrative support to Account Managers. To provide excellent customer service and contribute to generating sales, whilst helping to manage existing client accounts. The post provides an opportunity to learn and train to become an account manager.

Principal Duties & Accountabilities for the Trainee Account Manager:

The specific accountabilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time in order to meet the needs of the company, but accountabilities will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:
  • Supporting Account Managers to look after a portfolio of customers on behalf of some of the biggest names in the industry
  • Assisting the Sales Team Leader with administrative duties such as processing hire contracts and purchase orders
  • Contributing to the contract administration process by managing the associated documentation
  • Helping to facilitate sales enquiries predominantly by answering the phone and responding to emails
  • Making outbound calls to customers and suppliers
  • Evaluating customer needs
  • Liaising with, and serving as the point of contact for customers on contractual matters
  • Helping to plan the advance co-ordination and scheduling of resources to assist in the performance of the contract administration process
  • Liaising with the Operations team to ensure that jobs are carried out and completed accurately
  • Ordering materials and raising the associated purchase orders to ensure each job is invoiced accordingly
  • Dealing with suppliers, clients and subcontractors queries and resolving disputes in a timely manner
  • Updating data on spreadsheets
  • Working with our sales electronic system
  • Documenting significant events
  • Maintaining appropriate records

The role may require working antisocial hours and on occasion being away from home for a few days for training purposes

Level of Knowledge & Experience for the Trainee Account Manager
  • Sales experience
  • Relevant experience gained in any commercial area involving contact with customers
  • Experience of computerised systems essential
  • MS Office experience is essential
  • Strong understanding of the working of an office
  • Experience of the construction industry an advantage but not essential
