Job Purpose

The key aspect of the role is to head up the delivery of information to the broking business and potentially the wider group. That information will primarily be of a financial and non-financial nature. Heading up a team of two initially but likely to grow, this role will work with the IT department to help develop the data warehouse (and other sources) to capture the requisite information from the underlying systems in order to meet the MI requirements of the business. The team is tasked with the delivery of information to assist management in tracking both performance and making decisions - the accuracy and timeliness of the data is therefore critical.

The role is a leading role within the Group's central Finance team, reporting directly into the CFO but will partner extensively with the wider management across different entities. The role will require not just the delivery of information but working either independently or in conjunction with others the interpretation of that data highlighting trends, performance and key stats that underpin the performance of the business.

Initially this role will focus on the broker, however it is very likely that claims information and insurance data will be merged in with the team along with the incumbent staff who currently provide this MI today.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Providing high quality financial and non-financial analysis, insight, highlighting the key drivers of the MI delivered and pro-actively delivering high quality advice to stake holders to support their decision making.
  • Be responsible for the governance and production of all business intelligence data and lead the Finance representation for the underlying systems / databases utilized to deliver this.
  • Be a key promoter of the business partnering ethos and build credible and positive relationships with key business areas to help facilitate the efficient and effective performance of Finance and the business as a whole.
  • Understanding the MI / BI database structure and able to co-ordinate the collation of data from different sources and / or complex systems.
  • Work with the IT department to further enhance the provision of information through the development of the data warehouse and associated cubes.
  • Look to modernise the delivery of the core reporting potentially through automation ensuring key reports are delivered on time to key individuals most likely via email.
  • Govern that all relevant business processes and procedures are compliant to data protection duties and responsibilities as asset out by the current regulation.
  • Create a framework of continuous improvement, constantly evaluating processes, systems and functions to reduce overhead effort and drive efficiencies.
  • Leverage the capabilities of the RPA and data teams in IT through collaboration and strengthened relationships and shared purpose.
  • Leading, coaching and developing the Management information and Business Information teams. Conducting regular individual reviews and seeking 360 Feedback for the team on at least a bi-annual cycle.

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Business Awareness: A sound awareness of insurance and insurance broking would be ideal

Communication: Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate well at all levels. Keeps others fully informed, encouraging participation and the expression of different or opposing views to ensure full understanding.

Customer Focus: Acts proactively to improve customer service. Proactively improves lines of communication outside of the Finance team in the business putting the needs of the business ahead of their own.

Technical Competencies:
  • Expert in taking lots of data, sifting through and delivering key performance metrics e.g dashboards and flashes to highlighting key trends.
  • Expert database, data management, data modelling and Excel skills; able to be the "subject matter expert" to others in the team on these aspects. Good understanding of IT reporting systems to enable reporting in the most effective manner.
  • Significant proven ability in business partnering and leading a team that engages positively and regularly with finance and non-finance senior management.
