The ideal candidate with following expertise is preferred:
• Overall responsible operational activities and Financial crime activities.
• In charge of UK Retail and Corporate Banking operations responsible for issuing guidance on management of operations. The responsibilities include-
• Monitoring of Back office work (back office being operated from India)
• Monitoring of Help-Desk (including monitoring of calls, training the help desk staff) operated in UK at present and proposed to be shifted to India
• Monitoring of IT -Set up, operation and maintenance
• Authorization of all non- treasury SWIFT outwards above £500,000.
• Reconciliation of Nostro Accounts and management of Swift users
• Handling of Death Claim Cases
• Customer Complaints Handling
• Monitor debit balances in Current account, un-approved overdraft, sundry and suspense accounts etc.
• Correspondent banking
• Follow up of Operations Review Reports of the branches
• Issuing guidance and support for Credit Payment Recovery, image clearing
• Liaising with NatWest (our banker) for reconciliation, clearing etc.
• Provide guidance and support for Cash Remittance activities (G4S), ATM Installation and Management, Safe Deposit Vaults/Lockers installation at branches.
• Handling of Customer Complaints
• Monitoring and Managing of outsourced activities relating to operational matter.
• Member of HIOC meeting.
• Dealing with external bodies and their queries unless they are compliance / Financial Crime related.
• Preparation and providing guidance regarding new guidelines and circulars for handling operational matters in the bank
• Managing and assisting in generation of statement
• Communication with customers on periodical changes to account terms and Conditions
• Preparation of operational related Policies and Procedures.
• Member of GDPR - working on personal data assessment for operations department.
• All communications and activities regarding operational procedures.
• Responsible for the oversight of the on-boarding of customers by the branches and ensuring the appropriate categorisation of accounts as high, medium and low risk. Make recommendations for rejection/approval as appropriate with evidence of decisions.
• Responsible for the review of information sourced from the customers by reviewing the relevant documents. Reviewing the appropriateness of the branch rating assigned to the customer.
• Reviewing the supportive documentation and performing quality checks on the client on-boarding requests from the branches.
• Reviewing the PEP matches, material adverse media, potential reputational risks, suspicious transactions and unusual cases, and if necessary, escalating it to Compliance for necessary approvals.
• Provide feedback to branch before sending application to back office.
• Responsible for quality assurance of the existing customers periodic review low and medium.
• High Risk: Arranging for the approval of High-Risk new customer on an individual basis and submitting it to COBC for approval before passing them on the back office.
• Have strong understanding in the context of a compliance and Financial Crime environment that all UK based financial institutions face.
• Recognise the regulatory risks and mitigating actions that banks face, such as from relevant legislation, the PRA and FCA Handbooks, and appropriate industry guidance; and recognise the Bank specific context and regulatory risks that the Bank faces.
• Consider how these regulatory risks are currently controlled and makes recommendations for an appropriate control regime.
• Ensure high level analysis and assess whether the payments are permissible or require further action to Fail or Reject, as per the current sanctions regulations.
• Raise any unusual activity/suspicious report to the MLRO in a timely manner making sure they are succinct, clear, and complete
• Working closely with compliance department.
• Preparation of Management information required by CFO/ED from time to time.
• Will reports to CFO
• As this is a small friendly team, the role would suit someone who is a team player and is able to engage easily with fellow team members
