Job Title: Maintenance Team Leader (Electrical bias)

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Salary: Starting salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Location: This role is office based in Kilwaughter, Larne

Purpose: This is a pivotal role aimed at attracting an individual who has developed team leadership skills and technical expertise with an Electrical bias. Working in a busy production environment you will be a key part of the success of the Engineering team, delivering best practice preventative maintenance and plant up-time.

As a key member of the engineering function, you will lead a team of Maintenance Fitters in a business-critical Manufacturing plant, Renders. The strategic focus of this role will be to coach and mentor the team to deepen technical skills and knowledge and drive forward a proactive root cause analysis culture.


· Take responsibility for health, safety and well-being to deliver a safety first culture

· Provide leadership for a team of expert fitters to create a performance culture by coaching and mentoring, developing depth of technical skills, and enhancing overall team effectiveness

· Bring a root cause based mindset and culture to deliver high quality solutions

· Develop and report concise data driven metrics to inform priorities and action plans

· Provide depth of technical advice and guidance to improve the reliability and performance of all plant

· Assist with the installation, servicing and maintenance of a wide range of production plant and machinery

· Maintain collaborative working practices, building strong relationships with all internal stakeholders. Work closely with Production to prioritise daily workload and plant maintenance

· Manage breakdowns with urgency to minimise downtime, working outside of core hours, unprompted with the wider team where valuable to do so

· Lead in the development of process plans, methods, design, material handling, manpower requirements, cost analysis and other areas as appropriate

· Own a high-quality preventative maintenance schedule to reduce downtime, and achieve optimal levels of capacity and efficiency

· Have the ability and confidence to make pragmatic decisions using knowledge, experience and judgement

· Work in partnership with the Engineering process team to optimize control loops and functions to attain continuous performance improvement

· Demonstrate a change instigator mindset to lead our continuous improvement and change culture

· Demonstrate resiliency and ambition to build and drive long term engineering excellence

· Act an ambassador for our company values and adhere to all company policies and procedure.


* A 3rd level qualification in Engineering or similar

* HND/HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, and/or time served Electrical background

* A minimum of 5 years' experience gained in a manufacturing environment, or similar role

* Experience working with and installing single phase/three phase electrical circuits

* Knowledge of current H&S legislation

* Root cause analysis & fault-finding experience on automated machinery & electrical systems

* Ability to read, interpret and apply information from files, electrical drawings, catalogues, reports, and manuals

* Experience of both the installation of new equipment and overhaul of existing equipment

* Strong leadership and people skills providing clear direction, coaching, mentoring and people capability development ·

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

* Excellent attention to detail, organisational, planning and prioritising ability

* Evidence of delivering and maintaining a continuous improvement culture

* Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite

* Able to work flexible hours as required

* Able to work away from home if required

* Possess a full current driving licence


* 18 Edition electrical installation

* 2391 Inspection and Testing

* PLC knowledge

* Control & Automaton systems experience

* Inverter drives, HMIs, and PLCs (preferably Siemens)

* Mechanical drive systems · Pneumatic and hydraulic systems

* LEAN methodologies experience
