About the opportunity:
When it comes to environmental consulting, we'rehelping our clients protect our world's natural resources. Jacob's ecology team is one of the UK's largest most dynamic and respected ecology teams. We have experts in almost every ecological field and are currently seeking candidates with significant botany experience to work within our teams. The size and experience of our team allows us to work with some of the most respected organisations in the UK. You'll support some of the largest, complex projects in the UK.
You'll have the opportunity to nurture and mentor a team of ecologists working on a variety of projects and will perform a key role within the botanical and habitat assessment aspects of our work. You'll enjoy demonstrating your project management skills aswell as using your expertise to resolve technical issues as they occur.
You'll also be surrounded by opportunities for technical as well as career mentoring to ensure your own continued professional development.This role can be based from any of the following locations; Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Worcester, Peterborough, Norwich, Cardiff, Bristol, Winnersh or London. We are open to all flexible working options and we are happy to disuss an option that works for you.
Here's What You'll Need:
- An honours degree in ecology or related field
- Demonstrable botany and habitat assessment skills and experience, including scoping, survey design and impact assessment
- Full MIEEM membership
- Eligibility for CEnv or CEcol
- Proven experience of most aspects of ecological projects
- Thorough understanding of biodiversity legislation pertinent to the UK and Europe
- Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice
- High level of personal responsibility
- Adaptable and flexible approach to different project requirements.
Ideally, here's what you'll also have:
- CEnv or CEcol
- Postgraduate degree
- Full current driving licence
- FISC level 4
- Familiarity with UKHabs Classification, NVC, BNG
- Confident in use of technology in the field and data management
- Project management experience
- Another ecological specialism (as well as Botany)
