My client is an established engineering company of over 30 years with an enviable client base, manufacturing products for both national and international Infrastructure Projects. Due to continued growth we have an exciting new opportunity for a full-time Estimator/Draughtsperson.

Within this role, you will be working on projects which may be as simple as a drawing for a one off part or longer projects spanning several months or years.

You will need to able to:

1. Analyse the customers' requirements to prepare estimate bids to meet project goals, ensuring that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline.

2. Liaise with engineers and designers to understand their design requirements and provide technical advice to manufacturing technicians.

3. Produce detailed estimates including obtaining raw material and sub-contractors' costs to effectively establish accurate material, equipment and labour costs for the project.

4. Compile accurate estimates, bids and quotations based on all data gathered and share this with relevant stakeholders, maintain consistent, up to date and reliable data for all bids.

5. Calculate costs and apply knowledge of materials and engineering principles to check feasibility of manufacture and construction of the product.

6. Liaise with customers on all levels to ensure the information received and the quote they receive is correct.

7. Estimate fabrication times working with our production team to ensure methodologies are appropriate and efficiencies maintained.

8. Create high quality detailed technical drawings and plans based on designs supplied by designers and make modifications to existing drawings, ensuring drawings are compliant with industry and health and safety standards and protocols as required by client.

9. When designing the product ensure value engineering where possible.

10. Use of TurboCAD software programs to create designs in 2D and 3D models.

11. Prioritise outstanding enquiries in a way to promote customer satisfaction.

12. Create design documentation.

13. Liaise with external suppliers/subcontractors/external design team/structural engineers.

14. Take part in project meetings with production management team to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget and address any issues before and during production.

15. Maintain accurate records and ensure any changes to drawings are updated and recorded.

The person we are looking for should have:

1. A good level of relevant steel estimating experience in an estimating/shop floor role. Ideally experience of major steel infrastructure construction.

2. The ability to understand and create accurate engineering drawings/work specifications - with a good knowledge of CAD.

3. Commercial awareness and good working knowledge of industry best practices and standards.

4. Good computer literacy - Microsoft packages, including specifically Excel (being able to set formulae, produce spreadsheets etc).

5. Excellent time management, multitasking and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and work on own initiative.

6. Ability to closely collaborate with colleagues, clients and stake holders with strong communication skills to ensure production schedules are met and concerns or opportunities are discussed.

7. Ability to travel and perform client/site visits when required.

8. Good problem-solving skills.

9. Be a team player.
