About Alzheimer's Society

Dementia devastates lives. By 2021, 1 million people will be living with the condition. But dementia won't win. Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer's Society will be here for anyone affected by dementia - wherever they are, whatever they're going through. Everything we do is informed and inspired by them.

We are the UK's leading dementia charity. Every day, we work tirelessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for dementia. We provide expert information, training, and support services to all those who need our help. And we are creating a more dementia-friendly society so people with the condition can live without fear and prejudice.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Time for Dementia team as the programme expands into the South West to launch at new universities. The programme, currently running across the South East provides students with ongoing contact with families affected by dementia in order to improve their knowledge, skills and attitudes on the condition. The programme aims to impart a greater understanding of living with dementia for undergraduate healthcare professionals in collaboration with Health Education England.

The role will support the programme, by ensuring the on-going engagement of a network of people living with dementia and their carers in the delivery of the Time for Dementia programme. The position reports to the Alzheimer's Society Project Manager and will be directly recruiting, consenting and supporting people affected by dementia and their carers to participate in the programme across the region.

This will involve working closely with Alzheimer's Society colleagues to promote the programme, as well as networking externally to raise the profile of Time for Dementia, and to generate referrals. The role will also be required to facilitate online virtual visits with students and families and complete keep in touch phone calls with families, ensuring record keeping is up to date and accurate. The post holder will work closely with the university to embed the programme and support with some student facing sessions and family related queries.

Extensive travelling will be required.
