A hugely successful Global Infrastructure Consultancy actively needs an experienced Planning Manager to support their Client Management Team to deliver a multi-Billion major critical highways infrastructure project.

The position is home based, with the flexibility to meet in the Project Office in Central London Office when necessary or beneficial for all.

The objective is to deploy the Schedule Management Plan, work with the planning and project management team to implement the requirements of the plan and to work with sub-Project Director to maintain the baseline integrity of the programme. Work with the planning teams to ensure quality and integrity of all scheduling information.

Responsibilities

Input to the Level 0 Plan (Strategic Programme) on behalf of the sub-Project Director and manage the coordination of workstream programmes assuring alignment and integration

Deploy the process and framework that is used to define, maintain, report and control schedules at all levels of the project, identify interfaces, promote, and monitor milestone definition sheets, establish baselines, code and resource load schedules

Ensure consistent application, effective and timely delivery of time management across the sub-project

Lead the schedule development and milestone definition, alignment of scope, time and cost, coding, resource loading, logic linking and establishing performance measurement baselines to record and track progress on schedules for your area

Work with the Cost Manager to integrate time and cost

Undertake QSRA exercises in conjunction with risk managers

Work with the Risk Manager and Workstream Leads to identify and drive down schedule risk to agreed plans

Work with the Change Manager to lead constructive but determined challenge to schedule change e.g. challenge schedule assumptions and logic

Input at planning workshops and represent time issues at project level

Provide presentations, coaching and facilitation in the use of planning software

Apply critical path analysis and shock absorber techniques

Produce progress reports showing variances in key metrics against the baselines

Produce RAG status reports based against time

Lead on earned value analysis to trend performance, predict future outcomes and give early warnings to the sub-Project Director and Workstream Leads on potential savings and/or early completions and the converse, potential overspend and/or delays

To deliver parent company project governance requirements as required

To consider project legacy and in all decision making in the same way as cost, risk, and time

To look for ways to encourage innovative thinking around how to improve legacy benefits

To hold health, safety and welfare (HSW) as a key project value and to participate in the creation, development and implementation of HSW strategies by the project leadership team

Previous Experience

Seasoned infrastructure planner with a track record of leading teams to deliver projects to time, cost quality standards across all stages of project lifecycle

Demonstrable experience of successfully working in/adapting the philosophy of a 'One Team' environment within an NEC contract context

Team oriented leader with the ability to work closely with peers, with the ability to delegate, motivate and empower individuals and teams

Examples of exercising sound judgement, leading and facilitating decision making on complex issues among multiple parties

To be able to work across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups

Membership of an appropriate professional body or equivalent work history

Demonstrable experience of leading and working in a team in a major infrastructure project in a similar industry &/or to working in a matrix and dispersed team

Working in central team with emphasis on monitoring and control process.

Experience of driving schedule quality improvement strategies

Skills

P6 skills, including full data diagnostics, quality and integrity checks

Exceptional excel skills, including data mapping, data management and linking P6 data and excel

Power BI skills. Ability to extract data from P6 into BI reports

Broad understanding of earned value-based performance management methodology and the generation/utilization of the resulting management information

Expertise in the use of Primavera P6 as a baseline management tool

Ability to build logical network diagrams from integrated planning workshops

Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders

To influence all levels in an organization to produce timely documents etc

Exceptional interpersonal skills and personal resilience to working under stress/different styles of leadership/getting things done

Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Ability to lead teams of multi-disciplinary planners in geographically diverse locations
