Senior Category Manager - Directs
An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role, in delivering a Procurement function, that is Fit 4 Future to British Sugar. An important part of this is role will be to ensure that the procurement function evolves to drive the successful delivery of the business's goals. The role will partner with the business, to drive excellent procurement practices, unlock optimum value from our supplier base and make it easier for our colleagues to buy in the right way.
The Senior Category Manager - Directs will lead and manage British Sugar's Direct expenditure, focused on managing supplier performance, implementation of key projects, supporting stakeholder goals, and developing & implementing sourcing plans whilst proactively managing the Directs team to deliver against KIP's and cost reduction activity
Key Accountabilities include:
Engaging with stakeholders, offering challenge & support and driving sourcing strategy to deliver business requirements.
Accountable to ensure that the outcome of sourcing approach meets the business requirements.
Responsible for British Sugar's Direct spend portfolio of £27.2m
Leads, develops and works alongside the Category Manager - Directs, building capability.
Leads multi-skilled cross functional teams in order to drive best value.
Develops and implements negotiation strategies
Takes the commercial lead to develop robust contractual agreements to deliver the business needs.
Proactively and cross functionally manage supplier relationships and performance.
Accountable for delivery of category strategies, cost savings and value across team
Accountable for their team reporting of cost savings and value via the Procurement dashboard
Maintain and strengthen close working relationships with Group and Divisional Procurement teams both locally within the region and globally.
Actively manage a portfolio of categories
What are we looking for?
Excellent communication skills
Previous procurement experience is essential
Degree level education, preferably working towards CIPS
Ability to work with multiple internal stakeholders and suppliers
Strong negotiation skills
Strives for continuous improvement
