Excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with privacy experience to join a major Technology & Telecoms business as their Privacy Counsel - Consumer in London.

Client Details

A Telecommunications giant is recruiting within their consumer business. Their legal team is renowned for accessing cutting edge work and leading within the technology & telecoms space in terms of their innovation. The Privacy function is growing a requires an additional qualified lawyer with strong privacy experience to join their team in London as Privacy Counsel - Consumer.

Description

The Privacy Counsel - Consumer will be an integral part of this Telecommunications business's Consumer Legal team. Working directly with the business including: Marketing, Product Development, Technology, Ad tech, the Privacy Counsel will provide advise on a range of commercial privacy matters.

Typical responsibilities will include:
  • Providing support on all aspects of privacy and data protection law including commercial data controller/processor negotiations, overseas transfers, "Big Data" and law of the internet, freedom of information and marketing communications compliance .
  • Providing input to ensure new products and services comply with internal data governance objectives and align with the business's overarching data strategy.
  • Building, developing and updating internal policies, processes and protocols to manage data risk and promote data governance and assurance.
  • Promoting and enabling cross-team collaboration to support the business's data governance objectives, digital transformation and overall compliance programmes.

Profile

The successful Privacy Counsel - Consumer will be a UK qualified solicitor with admission to the roll of solicitors. You will have obtained training either In-House at a leading business or in a recognised law firm.

You will have c0-4 years PQE but have at least 2 years+ privacy experience.

Other experience relevant:

- Expertise in national and European data protection laws and practices and an in-depth understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.

- drafting, reviewing and implementing policies.

- a CIPP/E, CIPM qualification would be advantageous but is not a requirement
