Job Details

Our client is a charity dedicated to bringing high-quality, professional adult education into the heart of communities. They are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Manager to be the main point of contact for all day to day Health and Safety issues relating to the Estate and to all course related provision.

One day you could be compiling a management report, looking at a risk assessment for the running of an outdoor gardening course, to sorting out appropriate hand sanitisers for use in the classroom. (The estate is mainly schools, colleges, community halls, church halls etc so you will not be working with extremes)

In this very new and autonomous role and working remotely as Health & Safety Manager you will be:
  • Reporting to the Estate Manager who is very supportive!
  • Managing a Health & Safety mailbox and responding to all queries
  • Reviewing and advising on Risk assessments completed by tutors
  • Ensuring all of the Health and Safety folders are up to date
  • Responding to all telephone based queries from Area Education managers
  • Completing reports for the Health & Safety management committees
  • Compiling all necessary data for the Senior Leadership Team
  • Developing and reviewing policies
  • Ensuring the organisation is fully up to date with all regulations

To be successful in this role of Health & Safety Manager you will need:
  • To be a personable individual that can adapt to different audiences
  • Have the ability to turn regulations into manageable systems and processes
  • A NEBOSH general certificate
  • Ideally working towards your NEBOSH diploma (though you will be granted time off to study towards this)
  • Working in role where there has been responsibility for Health & Safety
  • Enthusiastic about "putting your stamp" on this new role and developing ways of working

In return you will be working within an organisation that wants to make a tremendous difference to getting adults in local communities back into work, freeing some from social isolation, increasing skills and living more fulfilled lives:
  • Salary scale - £33,713.00 - £35,488.00 per annum
  • Stakeholder pension 4.5%
  • 33 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • 35 hour contract with flexible working hours
  • Life cover 2 x salary
  • EAP scheme
  • Remote equipment and travel expenses

Note: There will be very infrequent travel to sites.
