Morson Talent are currently partnered with a one of the biggest utilities companies in the UK who require an IT Project Manager to work on the internal website on a contract basis. This will be an initial 6 month contract which is highly extendable, outside of IR35 and paying between £525 - £550.

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the successful delivery of all Information Technology based projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost in line with specified customer requirements.

The project manager must forecast internal and external resources, monitor project costs and delivery, manage stakeholder performance and provide regular reporting. The role requires liaison with stakeholders from all levels of the company.

Dimensions:

Project sizes will vary from £5 million up to £50 million.
Principal Accountabilities:

Define, document and execute IT projects and work streams adhering to agreed portfolio methodologies and standards to time, cost and quality.
Prepare and maintain realistic project and quality plans
Liaise with management teams and Project Board to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project / business case / workstream.
Effectively estimates cost, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project to agreed scope
Monitor performance against plan, and take action where these deviate from agreed parameters.
Provide reports to the Project Board, sponsors and senior management as required
Provide effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience.
Allocate tasks to team members and appraising individual performance against agreed objectives
Actively represent the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business
Manage risks, including the development of contingency plans
Management of external suppliers where appropriate
Ensures that the project is formally closed and lessons learned are captured and actioned
Nature and Scope:

The post-holder will be part of the IT change management team, from which they will be assigned to one or multiple projects.

For any particular assignment, the Project Manager will be required to work closely with the business within the project governance structure, and establish and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders.

The Information Technology function of the client supports the whole of company, which has a wide geographical presence. Project Managers will be expected to be flexible to support assignments based at locations different to their primary place of work.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Ideally an IT related degree.
Project Management experience
Strong financial acumen
Experience of PMO disciplines
Experience of delivery of in-house developments and third party products
Experience in both Agile and Waterfall methods
Working knowledge of project planning tools, e.g. Microsoft Project
Enjoys a challenging and demanding role
Ability to work well under pressure
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrates sound judgement and business awareness
High energy and personal drive
Shows initiative and makes time to ensure general technical competencies and specialisations are kept up-to-date in line with industry developments
Key Competencies:

Strong business and industry acumen, with an understanding of the wider electricity sector and its challenges.
Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem solving environment, with attention to detail, a commitment to quality and the ability to think strategically.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, displaying confidence and professionalism.
Proven ability to work independently and as a team member, demonstrating organisational, multi-tasking and time management skills.
Sensitivity to business constraints, ambitions and operational objectives in area of assignment.
