SEN Teaching Assistant
Here at Portfield School we are dedicated to the development of our students and our staff. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll support pupils aged 3-19 years with special educational needs, specifically autism and associated difficulties as a learning assistant. Our SEN Teaching Assistants work one-on-one with our students to support them though their educational journey.
Aiding the Teacher to deliver the curriculum, the SEN TA helps children understand activities and overcome challenging behaviour, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). A comprehensive training programme will be provided.
You will have the chance to work with specialist facilities such as our therapy pool and sensory room, creating unique and inspiring environments. Swimming is not essential, but you must be comfortable getting into shallow water with students.
We have full time opportunities at our main site based on Parley Lane and our Life Skills site based in the centre of Christchurch. If successful, you could be placed at either site.
About You
Others would describe you as confident, empathetic, enthusiastic and reliable. Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills are a must. You'll bring a good sense of humour and patience, experience working with children and with challenging behavior is preferred but not essential as all training is provided.
What We Can Offer You:
* Paid enhanced DBS when starting
* Bespoke training programs
* Enhanced pay after probation
* Sick pay
* Healthcare Benefits
* Online Perks
* Extra hours during the holidays
* Pension scheme
* Career progression
* Holiday scheme that increases with service
* Free Parking
Autism Unlimited is committed to safeguarding the welfare of the people we support.
