Job Purpose Summary:

• To be responsible for testing superconducting magnets in the factory

• To perform vacuum leak testing, calibrations, setting up equipment, cooling the magnet to liquid helium temperature and energizing and shimming the magnet.

• Completing all QA documentation and customer acceptance criteria

• Liaising with the design engineers to ensure all tests are completed satisfactorily

• Commission the magnets at customer sites (worldwide). This will also include overseeing the delivery of the magnet to site. Locating the magnet in the correct position, cabling, pumping, cool-down, energizing and shimming

• Final checks and customer acceptance

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Production

• To test magnets, according to the requirements of the Company (using the Master Operational Plan (MOP) or project schedule) and to ensure these products meet the required quality level within the time allowance.

• Help plan the delivery and use of cryogens both in the factory and on customer sites whilst ensuring minimal waste.

• To identify tooling and process changes which may be necessary to enable the department to achieve its cost, delivery and quality targets

The Engineer's role is to provide timely inputs to ensure, drawings, travellers, tooling, processes, engineering support, parts and material are all available. Co-ordinating activities with the design and purchasing departments is key whilst liaising with leaders, supervisors and managers Communication and to communicate with Design and Purchasing departments to ensure they meet the needs of the Cell, and to effectively communicate with the Cell Leaders, Supervisor or Manager to ensure the MOP requirements are achieved or surpassed nstallations).

The job requires domestic and international travel (could be up to 3 weeks' duration)

Skills / Qualifications

• A degree in electronics / physics / engineering is preferred but not required

• 5+ years' experience in testing and installing High field MRI magnets is highly desirable

• Experience with Cryo coolers, Cryogens, high vacuum, compressed gas, Helium leak testing is an advantage

• Ability to work for extended periods with little to no supervision

• Proficient with the use of power and hand tools

• Proficient in the reading and understanding of technical prints and drawings

• Proficient in documentation of assembly process

• Ability to discuss technical issues at all levels

• Work will be carried out in high magnetic fields and may be involved in light rigging operations

• To identify tooling and process changes which may be necessary to enable the department to achieve its cost, delivery and quality targets
