Mechanical Engineer - 6 month contract - Tewkesbury or Fleet, however this role can be mostly be remote working - Open to market rates (Outside IR35)

Clearance Requirements & Eligibility

SC Required

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC and you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period. The Role

Responsibility for the mechanical design of our clients products in fields including Electronic Warfare, Satellite Communications and Data Encryption.
Create conceptual design solutions against module and system-level requirements, and produce 3D visualisation data using CAD tools suitable for technical review.
Develop products using CAD techniques to produce functional and cost effective designs that meet product requirements.
Carry out thermal and structural analysis of designs throughout the design phases.
Initiate and carry out any investigation and liaison required to produce a cost effective design in conjunction with the manufacturer, manufacturing engineering and other stakeholders.
Use of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool to raise part numbers, issue documents and raise change requests.
Generate mechanical documents, including part and assembly drawings, associated bill of materials and any other supporting documentation required to define the product definition.
Provide peer checking of other team members' mechanical designs.
Represent the Mechanical Engineering team at project meetings and formal reviews.
Provide technical support to operations, sales and all engineering disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Experience designing fabricated, machined, injection mould and die cast electronics enclosures for EMC.
Good working knowledge and proficient using 3D mechanical CAD tools, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
Experience of designing parts in all major material groups.
Able to work well in a team environment.
Familiar with configuration control processes using SAP, Aras PLM or similar.


Familiar with the design of rugged electronics enclosures for harsh environments.
Experience using CFD simulation tools tailored for electronics cooling.
Experience using FEA simulation tools for static and dynamic analysis of parts and assemblies
