Java Developer required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6-month contract, paying £700 a day, inside IR35, remote working.
We moved Client and Cost Management System (CCMS) in 2018 from Atos to 6Degrees hosting. This migration involved building a new disaster recovery (DR) site on Sparc hardware, doing a Solaris zone migration, then failing over to the new DR site.
This was always intended to be a temporary situation. Our Hosting Strategy is to use public cloud, and AWS.
CCMS is a set of components. Some of those components are Oracle products which have hard constraints on how you run them. In particular, eBusiness Suite must be run on IaaS to be in a supported configuration.
Essential Experience:
*Experience in refactoring and debugging pre-existing codebases to improve resilience and stability of software
*Experience embedding DevOps practices into legacy systems
*Experience of automated testing techniques and modern deployment approaches
*Experience securely designing, building and maintaining APIs, services and systems
Essential Skills:
*A systematic approach to problem solving
*A talent and enjoyment for tackling legacy systems - a mender's approach
*A commitment to share knowledge with permanent staff in the delivery team
*A willingness to help transform government into a more agile organisation, by helping to embed modern development practices
*A proactive attitude towards documenting software, business processes and incidents
Key Skills:
*Java 8/11
*Spring Core, Spring Security, Spring Web, Spring WS, Spring Data
*Frontend web skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
*Enterprise Design Patterns
*Docker
*Amazon Web Services orchestration using terraform
Please apply should you meet the above criteria.
