Purchasing & Supplier Development Manager - £30-40k DOE

Doncaster - Permanent

Title: Purchasing & Supplier Development Manager

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm (40hrs per week)

Salary: £30-40k depending on skills, abilities and experience

Holidays: 28 days per year (20+8)

Getting there: Doncaster, free onsite parking, on a bus route

Our client is a busy Doncaster based engineering company, they have just given me the go ahead to advertise for this exciting new position: Purchasing & Supplier Development Manager. Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for developing relationships, negotiating contracts and introducing new suppliers to help provide quality and value to their customers.

A typical day for the Purchasing & Supplier Development Manager may include:

New and existing supplier selection and development - including supplier assessment, audit reviews, benchmark, negotiation

Negotiate competitive terms & conditions with regards to: tooling manufacture costs and contracts, payment terms, price mechanisms, rebates, warranty and quality metrics

Deliver cost reduction targets through VAVE & Negotiation

Evaluate, benchmark and make sourcing and commercial recommendations, advising decisions involving e.g., supply chain risks, prices changes, supply shortages

Implement robust working procedures for the implementation of new products into the business to reduce the risk of margin for error

Creating and maintaining a system for monitoring exchange rate and raw material prices to identify opportunities for cost reductions

Procure all products as required by the business

Implement and manage supplier SLA's and price mechanisms, reporting material and product price moves

Develop product and supplier strategy - including contingency plans for product/supplier sourcing and strategic weaknesses

To apply for the position of Purchasing & Supplier Development Manager you will need:

Minimum 5 years working in a Procurement function

Demonstrable experience of purchasing from China

Proficient user of Microsoft Packages e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook

Understanding of commodity markets e.g., Metal Markets

Detailed understanding of the potential supply base

Must have extensive use of cost engineering

Can demonstrate understanding of product technical specifications and quality procedures

Ability to travel

A full driving license is preferred as there will be requirement to travel on an occasional basis
