JOB OVERVIEW

Our Kingston University International Study Centre is looking for a Subject Leader-Marketing to plan and manage the delivery of a range of modules for the marketing area. To provide support and guidance to the team of Academic tutors delivering these modules and to line manage several Academic Tutors. To teach up to 16 hours a week within the marketing area and provide the necessary cover for staff absence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line management and personal development

* Provide effective performance management of direct reports, including setting personal objectives and KPIs; regularly reviewing the performance of direct reports, and conducting formal performance reviews according to company policy and procedures.

* Support the Head of Subject in recruiting new academic staff for the marketing area as required and according to Study Group policies and procedures.

Academic and Operational Management

* Design and oversee the delivery of teaching and assessment for an agreed set of modules in the marketing area ensuring Academic Tutors teaching the modules are fully informed of the curriculum content, teaching schedules, assessment modes and deadlines; and ensuring the best possible student outcomes and student experience.

* Produce a set of agreed documentation for each course and module including course outlines, module handbooks, schemes of work and teaching material, with support and input from Academic Tutors. Review documentation regularly for accuracy and appropriateness.

* Work in partnership with the Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement to design and introduce new courses, modules and methods of delivery and assessment.

Academic Standards, Quality Assurance and Enhancement

* Ensure that the design and delivery of all courses in the marketing area are conducted with reference to and according to Study Group's, Kingston University and relevant external agencies' quality frameworks, policies, procedures, and codes of practice.

* Support Head of Subject in liaising with External Examiners for the marketing area, providing information to External Examiner as required.

* Analyse, respond to and plan and implement actions as a result of External Examiner feedback and recommendations.

* Support the Head of Subject in working with colleagues to monitor and observe teaching and learning activity and supporting Academic Tutors with continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.

* Contribute to the production of the Annual Monitoring Report, Centre Action Plan, and other evaluative and reflective documents, for submission to the Study Group (Provider) and the University.

* Participate in regular meetings as part of the Centre governance structure, including relevant exam boards, Learning, Teaching and Assessment group/management meetings.

Course validation, changes, and programme oversight

* Prepare documentation for new modules for validation and for existing modules courses for re-validation.

* Recommend course and module changes to the relevant Study Group or University committee or group and provide documentation to support the recommendation.

Partnership Liaison

* Develop and maintain effective relationships with key academic contacts at the University for the subject area, ensuring a full understanding of relevant University curriculum content, assessment modes and quality policies and procedures.

* Plan and implement effective interaction between University staff and academic staff in the marketing area to facilitate the best possible transition for students.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree

* Teaching qualification in the relevant subject.

* Experience in teaching international students in the UK higher or further education

* Experience in planning and running complex education courses in marketing.

* Experience in teaching in the marketing area.

* Line management experience in a teaching and learning environment.

* Experience in leading a team to achieve high levels of student academic performance and outcomes against agreed targets.

* Experience of partnership working in the education sector.
