Job Details

An exciting opportunity for a Trainee Architectural Concrete Repair Specialist to join a specialist concrete cosmetic business. Do you have a passion for solving problems and a fascination for how things work? Would you like to get hands-on with real challenges? If yes, we’d love to talk….…

Role Info:

Trainee Architectural Concrete Repair Specialist
UK remote (ideally based in the Midlands) Plus Overseas Travel
On our training programme you'll start on a salary of £25,000 per annum, increasing in stages as your skills develop (our current stage 2 salary is £28,500 and stage 3 is £33,500). Trainee technicians generally reach level 3 after 2-years of training but it can be sooner.

About Us:

Aesthetic concrete finishes have long been a popular choice for some of the most impactful architecture and construction projects around the world.

All too often, however, the aesthetic concrete vision presented at design stage doesn’t translate well on-site and the results of the concrete work simply don’t produce a finish that meets the aspirations of the agreed visual concrete specification.

This is where we step in, our team of highly trained technicians travel round the world to improve concrete finishes that don’t meet the architectural vision and would potentially need to be demolished. Our team takes the stress and panic out of the situation should problems occur but also ensure projects stay on time and on budget, with relationships intact, and a visually stunning finish.

Our skills are not just limited to newly constructed buildings, but we also work on the restoration of concrete and stone finishes on Grade I and II listed buildings.

The Trainee Architectural Concrete Repair Specialist Role:

From day one you will contribute to live projects, while studying for an NVQ in Specialist Concrete Repair and undertaking our own in-house technical training.

On successful completion of the programme you will be able to:

+ Evaluate and report on architectural concrete (and other material) problems by combining your general and specialist remedial knowledge
+ Develop and apply appropriate remediation strategies and practical methods to concrete improvement and other materials where required
+ Provide management through the planning and implementation of projects, developing programmes of work
+ Summarise and tailor the communication of remedial strategies to stakeholders, clients and architects all requiring different levels of information
+ Manage and apply safe systems of work to comply with relevant codes of conduct
+ Undertake architectural concrete repairs in a way that contributes to sustainable development

During the first two years you will participate in a variety of industry recognised construction courses as well as our bespoke in-house BETOcare training programme. This includes:

+ NVQ in Specialist Concrete Repair
+ SSSTS – The Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme
+ PASMA and IPAF qualifications for working at heights using electronic platforms and towers
+ First Aid Training

At the end of the second year, you'll choose which further stream to study with NVQs in construction management, specialist concrete engineering or other related qualifications.

Working Life:

This is not a job for those that don’t like to travel. Our projects are based predominantly throughout the UK but 20% of our work is worldwide. You will therefore be required to travel worldwide as part of your role. We have worked in Dubai, Cyprus, Ireland, USA and Australia to name just a few.

It is likely that you will spend Monday – Friday working away from home most weeks unless a project is local to where you live. You may also be away from home for up to a month for certain projects abroad. Don’t worry all accommodation, meals and expenses will be covered.

About You:

The skills and attributes which underpins the potential of applicants to succeed are:

+ Passion for construction and restoration
+ Curiosity and problem solving
+ Work readiness
+ Learning agility
+ Technical ability
+ Communication and collaboration

We require, as standard, that all applicants hold a minimum of GCSE Grade D/5, or equivalent qualification, in English and Mathematics. Other subjects that we consider of benefit are Design & Technology and / or Art & Design, but these are not essential as you will be given all the training you need if successful.

All applicants must hold the right to both study and work full-time in the UK. You must also hold:

+ A clean full driving license
+ A valid passport
+ Covid Vaccination Pass (or evidence it is being secured)
+ You will be required to take and pass the CITB Operatives HS&E Test before any job offer is validated

We’re Talent Acquisition Specialists that founded change in 2005. Since then we’ve helped over 2500 clients grow, prosper and lead.

# Our Story

Frustrated by poor experiences with traditional agencies, our founders (just two regular candidates), decided that the outdated industry needed modernising and a new balance of power. In 2005, a new kind of agency model was born, putting the client and candidate at the heart of the experience whilst removing the pushy sales, schmooze and high fees.

# What makes us different?

Aside from a sensible fee model, custom technology and a direct unhindered path to candidates we…

…don’t sell candidates and we don’t sell jobs: we facilitate relationships and champion the process of ‘organic hiring’ to help create stronger and longer-lasting engagements.

# Who we work with

With an industry reputation for delivering results we are the go-to talent finders for over 2500 clients. We work with everyone from tech start-ups to global brands who all demand the best service and talent.
