Senior Manager Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) - Global Services (GS)

Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) is one of our six tax service lines. Within GCR our Global Services (GS) professionals lead multi-country, multi-service engagements helping businesses meet demands for tax and financial reporting, compliance and risk management. Working with FTSE 100, FTSE250 and Fortune 500 organisations, our GS team has responsibility for leading large complex pursuits, managing contracting and transition programmes, overseeing the performance of our GCR in-country teams, working with our clients on their finance and tax function transformations, and leading client relationships at senior levels.

The GS team works with a wide range of businesses to help them develop and implement effective, practical and sustainable approaches to managing accounting and tax compliance and reporting. This includes helping clients to shape and implement new tax operating models and identifying, assessing and project managing new technology deployment opportunities.

The opportunity

The Global Services team works with leading organisations across a range of sectors and services from full tax and finance operate outsourcing, supporting with the design and implementation of clients' tax operating models, to compliance process design and the project management of outsourced compliance and reporting services.

We are looking for an experienced London based Senior Manager to join our busy and thriving team. Our team includes individuals based in London, Belfast and Bangalore with complementary skills and experience across Finance, Tax and Project Management but all with a common desire to provide exceptional client service. You will have opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of services, further develop your skills and have day-to-day contact with senior team members at our clients.

Your key responsibilities

Business development and pursuit support
  • Work with the GS partner group to provide senior support to large pursuit and proposal activities, in response to client RFPs. This includes leading global pricing exercises, involvement in strategic negotiation and being a part of EY's presentation team at client pitches
  • Support development of the client business "case for change"
  • Identify opportunities for additional EY services and or extensions to EY outsourcing services for existing EY clients
  • Own and drive your own sales pipeline across mid-sized/smaller pursuits


Contract Management
  • Manage a number of large GCR contracts, with client interface and in a supervisory service delivery role
  • Proactively manage service delivery risk across those contracts through strong governance and escalation processes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key contract stakeholders (internal and external) across multiple jurisdictions and ensuring effective and timely communication
  • Manage contract governance including adherence to agreed quality and risk processes and procedures
  • Manage contract reporting against service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) ensuring timely resolution of issues
  • Provide guidance and support to peers, colleagues and clients on contractual issues, and oversee local fee and scope negotiations
  • Set clear objectives and expectations for junior team members including day-to-day responsibility for the management of offshore team members


Finance
  • Review budgets and resourcing requirements on a regular basis with responsibility for meeting margin targets across engagements
  • Lead the billing and cash collection process across your portfolio


Quality and Risk Management
  • Support the Engagement Partner on all Quality & Risk Management (QRM) matters, overseeing implementation and adherence to agreed processes, procedures and timetables
  • Liaise with Global and Tax QRM and legal teams in the resolution of client service management issues
  • Maintain the specified contractual framework and supporting agreements for all engagements


Detailed scoping and process assessments
  • Manage any changes to scope and the resulting fee impact including leading client/internal negotiations as needed
  • Review and suggest improvements to compliance and reporting processes considering data sources, hand-off points and controls


Compliance methodology
  • Sharing successful tools, techniques and approaches with other GS team members;
  • Project managing GCR development projects


To qualify for the role you should have:
  • A degree level qualification or equivalent
  • A proven work record in a similar environment
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Excellent MS Excel and Word capability
  • Experience in Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax or accountancy from a professional services firm or in-house team
  • ACA / CA / ATTI/CTA/Tax Inspectors or a breadth of knowledge equivalent to a tax specialist qualification is not essential but welcome
  • Proven project management skills, and an ability to plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor budgets. A PRINCE2 qualification or similar would be beneficial.
  • Experience of managing international projects
  • Experience in process and technology design is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Proficient multi-tasking ability
  • Ability to coach more junior team members and add value to the team
  • Experience with managing teams across multiple jurisdictions
  • Strong presentation skills and experience in developing and delivering major proposals to clients and targets
  • Strong client management skills
  • A commercial mindset
