Finance Manager
This is an excellent opportunity to lead the finance function of a high performing academy that is at the heart of the community. With a number of staff reporting into you, you will have responsibility for a number of key areas including:
Providing direction and development on policies and strategies
Financial Administration
Management of resources
Supporting the work of the Trust
Communications
Marketing and external links, including public occasions
Monitoring, evaluation & assessment
To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
Providing direction and development on policies and strategies
- Preparing annual forecasts/budgets, monthly expenditure reports and annual capitation budgets for departments
- Managing and controlling expenditure on various accounts
- Formulating guidance for staff on School financial policies
- Assist with preparing reports to the Senior Leadership Team and School Governing Body on the budgets, including PowerPoint presentations
Financial Administration
- Ensuring prompt payment of invoices, inputting of accounts and ordering of supplies
- Upkeep of Petty Cash transactions
- Undertaking all banking transactions including counting of any cash collections, prepare monthly bank reconciliations and trial balance
- Managing income and expenditure on for all school trips
- Issuing lettings invoices
- Acting as point of contact for parents of pupils holding a bursary award
Management of resources
- Ensuring that the PSF Accounts database is updated regularly to enable data retrieval and ensure accurate and effective reporting as and when required
- Line managing the Finance Officer and part time Finance Assistant
Supporting the work of the Trust
- Actively supporting and contributing to the overall aims and targets of the Trust and the School to attend and participate effectively in relevant meetings as required
- Taking responsibility for ensuring that relevant Trust policies are effectively implemented
Communications
- Informing and guiding teaching and support staff on financial matters relating to the Trust or School's policies, processes and procedures.
Marketing and external links, including public occasions
- Building effective relationships with parents and other members of the community, both to ensure an excellent local reputation for the school and the Trust and to develop a culture of partnership with them
Monitoring, evaluation & assessment
- Regularly reviewing own practices, set personal targets and take responsibility for own self-development
To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- ACCA / CIMA / AAT qualified or equivalent with Line Management experience
- Excellent Systems skills - confident and adept in use of Microsoft applications eg. Word, Excel and Powerpoint, ideally with experience using PS Financials and SIMS
- Exceptional organisational and administrative skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines
- Able to communicate effectively with all members of the school community
- Experience of managing budgets, monthly reporting including presentation to senior managers
- Diligence to manage and deliver on long term projects
