Amplifi Talent is retained by a leading sustainable, plant-based and eco-friendly brand to recruit a Management Accountant role to be based in their Edinburgh City Centre location and report directly to the Finance Director.


Established in Edinburgh in 2006 with operational bases in Huntington Beach, Sydney and Hong Kong and distribution throughout Europe, the Middle East, South America and the Caribbean, our client is a manufacturer and visionary brand that is regarded as the global specialist in plant-based compostable food service packaging. As part of this exciting growth story, the role of Management Accountant has arisen which will support the finance teams across the UK and US, whilst also acting as a key support to the Finance Director and commercial team based in Edinburgh.

The Opportunity

With a direct reporting line to the Finance Director, the Management Accountant role will be primarily responsible for the delivery of management accounts, annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, and sales & margin analysis to support commercial decision making within the business. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with key stakeholders across the UK, Europe and US. A key focus will be on achieving integration synergy efficiencies and standardising systems and processes.

This is a highly visible role within the business and will require a clear communicator who has strong influencing abilities across a range of level and teams. Key to this will be someone with a commercial eye for detail who can spot areas of opportunity to drive performance and profitability whilst mitigating financial risks to the business.

Additionally, the Management Accountant will be expected to bring an ethos of continuous improvement to existing systems and processes and work in conjunction with the Finance Director providing support for the budgeting and forecasting process along with supporting the wider commercial teams on tendering and new product launches both in existing and new markets.

Job Description

The Management Accountant role will form part of the finance team in Edinburgh and will be responsible for management reporting, budgeting and financial control, providing support to the Accounts Payable function and be a direct support to the Finance Director.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Integration restructuring and support of the UK subsidiary
  • Work with the US IT Team and Operational Team to implement a new ERP system Q1 2023
  • Prepare monthly Management Accounts ensuring all entries have been accurately posted
  • Complete and review balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Prepare sales analysis reports that support the Management Accounts
  • Develop operational processes and controls within the Finance function ensuring Microsoft Nav is utilised to its full potential
  • Develop margin reporting and work closely with the Commercial team with regard to tenders and new product launch profitability
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, full year estimates and financial strategic plans
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll for UK business
  • Prepare and process quarterly VAT returns and have a good working knowledge of VAT treatments
  • Manage PAYE, VAT, Corporation Tax and P11Ds.
  • Process supplier payments
  • Provide support to the Accounts Payable team
  • Prepare and assist with statutory filings including annual accounts, VAT (UK, Dutch and Ireland) and tax returns
  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
  • Day to day financial administration including finance mailbox maintenance and query handling

Candidate requirements

• Newly qualified Accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA)

• Advanced Excel skills

• Excellent communication skills at all levels of a business

• Self motivated to deliver under pressure and to specific deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Proactive approach to business partnering

• High levels of integrity and resilience

• Excellent presentation and reporting skills, able to deliver relevant reports and analysis succinctly and clearly

• Microsoft Nav experience - not essential but would be advantageous

Salary: £Competitive DOE, Annual Bonus Scheme
