Join us as a Programme Officer and Researcher and help support the work undertaken by our UK Environment programme of work. You will be providing assistance in project management and planning, monitoring and evaluation work, communications, and reporting to funders.
You will also provide legal and policy research capacity and be involved in researching and writing internal briefs as well as contributing to briefings for external audiences on various legal issues related to the UK Government's development and implementation of environmental legislation, access to environmental justice and our activities and strategic interventions on environmental law matters.
Meet your Manager
In this role you will be managed by Kyle Lischak, our Head of UK. Kyle joined ClientEarth in 2021 and is based in the UK. Kyle's work focuses on the environmental rule of law in the UK with a specific focus on sustainable agriculture and fisheries. Prior to joining ClientEarth Kyle worked as Head of Legal for the Met Office, the UK's national meteorological and climate science advisor for over seven years. Before this, Kyle was employed as Principal Solicitor in Natural England where he led on legal advocacy in relation to matters affecting the natural environment. Kyle has also held a variety of other roles in the private and public sector, both in the UK and in the USA.
Assisting the team to develop and implement organisational systems and tools
Assisting with the creation of public-facing content
Compiling documents for distribution
Organising and coordinating logistics for workshops and meetings
Processing purchase requests, travel requests, expenses and invoices
Drafting press releases
Scheduling and administering meetings
Conducting research and preparing memos on environmental policy and legal topics
Basic understanding of contemporary UK environmental issues and the current UK environmental law and policy framework
Experience of responding to competing deadlines and managing multiple priorities
Knowledge of office administrative processes and procedures, including activity planning and reporting, event coordination, purchasing and diary management
Understanding of the UK political landscape (desirable)
Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation and/or legal environment (desirable)
