Pay: £14.00 p/h

Job Summary for Project and Finance Officer:
SOC ACE Project and Finance Officer will assist in the management of the programme with particular focus on financial management. The SOC ACE programme has commissioned 16 research projects. In this role you will be liaising with partners to get updates on their spending, receive and process invoices, update financial reports and spending forecast, ensure that data held by Research Finance is accurate and support Programme Manager in preparing reports to funder.

Main duties for Project and Finance Officer:

Assist in the management of SOC ACE programme through the provision of significant and high level project management support.

  1. Maintain accurate records of expenditure and time used for delivery of the programme by researchers at the University of Birmingham and by research partners.
  2. Collaborate with College and Central Finance Offices to monitor project budgets, allocate charges to project accounts, request invoices.
  3. Collect the financial reports and invoices from research partners and prepare financial reports to funders.
  4. Contribute to milestone tracking/key performance indicator tracking.
  5. Assisting with stakeholder management and maintaining regular contact with research partners, and review, develop and propose solutions for any issues.
  6. Appropriately assess and escalate issues and risks.
  7. Assist in the management of project resources and/or budgets.
  8. Contribute to developing communications plans, presentations, and promoting the projects and outcomes of projects/workstreams.
  9. Maintain an up to date knowledge of project management methodologies.
  10. Determine short term priorities for work, and how to maximise quality, efficiency and continuity.
  11. Assist in the evaluation and review of projects.
