  • Position: Client Accountant
  • Location: Hatfield, Herts
  • Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Contract: Permanent, Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Flexible working hours, option to work from home 2 days a week

Client Accountant:
  • Are you a self-sufficient client accountant?
  • Do you have experience working in an accountancy practice?
  • Have you previously managed your own client base and worked alongside account managers?
  • Are you either part AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified?
  • Do you have strong working knowledge of VAT, IR35, Payroll, Personal tax, Corporation tax and Ltd Company accounts?
  • Would you be confident liaising with clients and building relationships?

Our Client:

A fast growing accountancy firm with ambitious growth plans are looking to recruit a self-sufficient client accountant to join their team and work with start-ups, freelancers and contractors. You will be responsible for acting as a dedicated accountant to your own client base. Working alongside an account manager you will be responsible for all technical aspects of your client base. This will include preparing returns and accounts and communicating technical subjects with your clients.

Job Role:
  • Prepare and finalise client accounts and Corporation Tax returns
  • Answer technical/accounting client queries by phone and email, with a special focus on using terminology our clients will understand.
  • Prepare and sign off VAT returns
  • Carry out welcome calls with all new clients to clearly explain tax rules & rates and talk through structuring options
  • Providing pro-active tax planning
  • Prepare and discuss higher rate tax projections for clients
  • Prepare Self-Assessment returns
  • Handle complex FreeAgent queries and reconciliations
  • Manage the process to bring new transfer clients up to date on FreeAgent
  • Prepare and sign off earnings references

  • Be AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified.
  • Experience of the contractor market would be beneficial but not absolutely essential.
  • Have strong technical knowledge in VAT, IR35, Payroll, Personal tax, Corporation tax and Ltd Company accounts.
  • Be an excellent communicator, with great written and oral communication skills.
  • Be comfortable using cloud based technology, with experience of CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of FreeAgent would be useful but not essential.
  • Show the ability to self-manage workloads and co-ordinate with other team members.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • The ability to proactively question everything to improve quality and processes
