Lawyer
A Lloyd's Managing Agency have an opportunity for a Qualified Lawyer to join the business. You will be working with the Head of Legal Services providing in-house legal services to the group and assisting with obtaining external legal advice as/when required.
Duties and Responsibilities
To be part of the Legal team providing assistance to the team as/when required; for example, in relation to the pre-bind check monitoring process, sanction issues, regulatory matters etc.
To assist the Underwriting teams
Responding to specific requests for assistance; for example, considering clauses and wordings, Confidentiality Agreements, Notices of Assignments/lenders' clauses etc.
Attending broker/client meetings with the Underwriters as/when required.
Organising/providing (re)insurance legal training as/when required.
Compiling a precedent bank of clauses/wordings etc.
Carrying out a monthly legal peer review of risks written in London, discussing matters with Underwriters and drafting a report to the UMC highlighting significant issues etc.
Carrying out a quarterly legal peer review of risks written in our client's International offices, liaising with Underwriters in relation to such matters and producing a report for the International UMC highlighting significant issues.
Carrying out a quarterly Downgrade Clauses reviews.
To assist the Claims team:
Attending the weekly Claims Meetings and monthly Class/XCS Claims Meetings so as to understand issues arising in relation to claims and consider/highlight wordings issues etc.
Helping with legal issues/strategy as/when required on complex claims.
With the selection of panel legal experts.
To assist the Outwards Reinsurance team:
Helping with specific clauses/wordings issues.
Advising in relation to the presentation of outwards reinsurance claims
Organising/providing reinsurance legal training as/when required.
To assist the HR team as/when requested.
To assist with other legal issues/projects as/when they arise; for example, non-insurance legal training, agreements with brokers, IT and other outsourcing agreements, non-claims disputes etc.
To ensure that relevant Solicitors Regulatory Authority/CPD requirements are met so that a Practising Certificate can be obtained.
To assist with reporting to the Board and Executive as/when necessary.
