Who are we?

The successful candidate will work within the Legal Operations team, an operational team made up of paralegals and legal professionals working for a wide range of clients from sectors such as Luxury brands, Banks, Manufacturing and more.

About the role

This role is within our Legal Operations team as a Governance Relationship Manager. We help our clients with complex business processes across a number of areas with a specific focus on risk, legal and compliance. Our Legal Operations team is a fast-growing, exciting area so we're looking for someone enthusiastic to join our team and help us continue on our journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing relationships with PwC's Entity Governance and Compliance clients where we have been engaged to provide governance and company secretarial support on a global basis for multinational groups usually headquartered in the UK or the US.
  • In particular, managing a portfolio of 20+ clients, working closely with a dedicated team of 60+ corporate governance specialists based across London, Reading, Birmingham and Manchester and compliance specialists based in Belfast.
  • Developing relationships with key contacts in key countries within PwC's Entity Governance and Compliance network which covers 130+ countries around the world where we have corporate governance and company secretarial specialists located in PwC offices.
  • Ensuring that we are delivering support through this network of teams in accordance with the Global Operating Frameworks and the KPIs as agreed with our clients.
  • In particular, monitoring compliance to ensure that subsidiary companies around the world are being maintained in good legal standing and any corporate activities, such as changes in ownership or management, are being efficiently managed and implemented within timescales agreed with clients.
  • Sharing legal and regulatory developments in corporate governance and addressing their impact on subsidiary companies, and helping to position our additional services and capabilities with clients.
  • Overseeing the deployment and maintenance of technology systems to ensure that we are providing accurate data and insight for subsidiary companies. Technology systems include PwC's proprietary global company secretarial software as well as third party legal entity management databases such as Diligent Entities or GEMs.
  • Provide regular reporting to each client on the current status of compliance work and any corporate activities we are providing globally.
  • Quality reviews on work undertaken by the Belfast compliance specialists, providing coaching and feedback as necessary.
  • Responsible for commercials including budgets and invoicing process.
  • Act as a point of contact for client queries or escalations.

Who are we looking for?
  • Proven corporate governance or company secretarial experience, or an operations or project management role within a global legal or compliance environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain credible relationships with clients, and with the PwC teams in the UK and globally, so as to be seen as a trusted business partner maintaining a professional and pragmatic approach.
  • Ability to work as a team player, with effective communication and coaching skills.
  • Ability to identify and diagnose problems and develop solutions or improvements independently and provide and supervise the implementation of recommendations.
  • Commercial mindset.
  • Track record in change management, particularly in process improvement or implementation and utilisation of technology.
  • Experience of working in a high volume, process driven environment and balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an inquisitive nature which is inclined to investigate, identify issues and solve problems.

Desirable Criteria
  • ICSA: CGI qualification or MSc Management and Corporate Governance would be beneficial but not a prerequisite for the role.
  • Experience of using a legal entity management database such as Diligent Entities or GEMS would be beneficial but not a prerequisite for the role.
  • Experience gained with a professional services environment and a passion for client service preferred.

We are also exceptionally passionate about providing you with the necessary skills, experience and training to help you develop both personally and professionally. You will avail of our specific training framework, tailored to match your skills, needs and career aspirations. Your desire and ability to do this will be discussed as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who are unable or do not wish to work on projects in other locations will still be considered and it is not a prerequisite of the role.
