A fantastic permanent opportunity is now available for an experienced Service Manager. Our client is an established name in the generator power industry working on a range of hire and standby diesel generator sets. As a service manager, your main duties will include:
  • Responsible for ensuring resource allocation achieves maximum utilisation and efficiency of staff and skill set.
  • Management of financial projections including forecasts, budgets and profit margins
  • The achievement of financial targets set.
  • Account management for selected customers and completing tenders.
  • Production of quotations including remedial quotations following maintenance visits.
  • Working at various site locations and will be required to carry out work on contracts within the Scottish area and on occasion in other areas of the UK as required.

As a Service Manager, you will be expected to:
  • Continually strive to provide cost effective solutions and service delivery whilst meeting contractual commitments and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Provide overall management, co-ordination and planning of business proposals and quotes.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget and within the resources available. Also ensure that equipment and resources allocated to projects are properly utilised and returned to the Company in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Conduct regular status reviews and meetings.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with customers and capitalise on networking opportunities to promote the Company and its services.
  • Manage and motivate direct reports on all aspects of people and staff management including performance, attendance, capability, and disciplinary issues. Such issues will be dealt with in line with best practice, Company rulings and current legislation.
  • Support and coach direct reports to ensure that issues and risks are escalated to allow adequate investigation and resolution.
  • Check and authorise all time sheets, ensuring all paperwork is to a high standard and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Promote, develop and implement a safe working environment and ensure compliance at all times with quality standards, health and safety standards and Company standards.
  • Champion and promote the core values of the Company at all times and challenge when departed from.
  • Deliver the business plan through balanced yet challenging solutions

To be successful in this role you will need to:
  • Have at least 3 years previous experience in a similar role
  • Have served/completed an approved apprenticeship in one of the following-mechanical/ electrical engineering /diesel or plant fitting, or have achieved BTEC or equivalent level
  • Have a full driving licence
  • Be a good communicator
  • Be enthusiastic and not defeatist
  • Work using your own imitative, with minimal supervision
