The Challenge

Do you see yourself as an Estates Facilities Manager? If you are looking for a high profile and challenging role that will provide a sense of achievement this role is for you. The Estate Facilities Manager is an individual and semi-autonomous post and plays a key role in the delivery of services at RAF Brize Norton and RAF Benson/Dalton Barracks.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to deliver outstanding hard and soft facilities management. The EFM sits between the military customer teams and the contractor delivery teams. The role is expected to use their contract and relationship management skills to enhance the living and working environment for military and civilian personnel whilst ensuring the estate assets remain safe and compliant.

The vast range of facilities on the sites present fresh challenges every day but this postholder will be making a direct contribution to Defence outputs.

We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions, and we work across the world; in Germany, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands, Norway, Poland, Kenya, Belize, Nepal and Oman.

ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities

Maintaining key stakeholder engagement with both industry partners and customer representatives.
Working in collaboration with the industry partners and other agencies to deliver key tasks, including providing assurance of delivery and statutory compliance of the estate together with delivery of customer development tasks.
Ensuring the industry partner is delivering the correct level of service against agreed indicators and enabling issue resolution to maintain operational outputs against agreed requirements.
Assurance of the hard facilities management delivery of reactive and planned maintenance tasks with a particular focus on statutory compliance including legionella, asbestos and fire.
Management of minor new works tasks.
Collation and reporting of facilities management data.
Assurance of contract and quality standards for catering, cleaning, waste management and other contractor delivered Soft facilities management services.

Whilst largely an independent role, the Estates Facilities Manager will work closely with the Senior Estates Facilities Manager, immediate peers and the wider DIO community.

Essential Experience

Previous experience in estate management and /or contract management in a demanding delivery environment.

Travel Requirements
Periodic travel to other sites within the Service Delivery Area and infrequent travel across the general South East, with infrequent overnight stays at some locations.

Environmental Factors / Hazards Associated with the Post
The postholder will be required to make periodic inspections of construction sites, airfields and training areas. This may expose the postholder to inclement weather conditions and require them to negotiate busy work sites and uneven ground on large MOD sites.

Licences
Essential: Full driving licence is required as multiple visits to sites sometimes requiring an overnight stay are an essential part of the role

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure.

Our responsibilities include:

Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment

Employment Hours

The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. This job is open for all working patterns but please note, Part Time or Job Share will only be considered if full time cover can be achieved.
