Our client is looking for a Finance Officer to support a policing team in the based in Ealing, West London.


The Vehicle Recovery & Examination Service (VRES) team is a key part in the MPS' drive to tackle vehicle crime on the streets of London.

In support of these services, the candidate will be responsible for these aspects:
  • Process, authorise and reconcile invoices
  • Process and post Journals
  • Authorise and track income
  • Provide assurance checks of the above activities and resolve any errors with assistance from the wider operational and MPS Central Finance team, whilst interacting with VRES suppliers
  • Process the topping up of any auto-pay accounts
  • Conduct regular and irregular purchasing activities as required by the wider organisation
  • Assist in the review framework and data collection around the activities the Support team are involved with

Essential knowledge:
  • Practical knowledge of relevant technology and IT systems capability
  • Understanding of public sector organisations' financial processes
  • IT literate including the use of MS Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to process reports, invoices and journals
  • Ability to monitor administrative processes
  • Understanding of corporate responsibility and Data Protection/GDPR
  • Able to process purchasing

Essential experience
  • Previous experience processing invoices and reports
  • Successful administrative and record keeping experience in a large, change oriented business
  • Proven ability to implement and monitor robust administrative processes and procedures in line with good practice
  • Proven ability to deliver quality and efficiency in service and record keeping
  • Experience of achieving defined outcomes and targets with administrative environments
  • Use of email, MS Office, and shared document folders such as Box, as well as use of ELVIS (vehicle management system) or similar systems

This is a temporary role for an initial 6 months (until April 2022), paying £15.18 per hour PAYE plus other benefits.
