Your new school

Hays Education are working in partnership with a growing SEN school in Leicestershire who are looking to appoint 2 x Middle Leaders with responsibility for Curriculum - one for English and one for Maths.

The school accommodates for students aged 8-18 who have struggled to access mainstream education. The school provides specialist education and care to students with a statement of Special Education Needs. These can include Moderate and Complex learning difficulties and SEMH needs.

These roles are both full time and a 1 year fixed term contract - to start in January 2022.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will set clear expectations of student achievement and progress through effective target setting and monitoring against national benchmark data. You will help to build, communicate, and implement a shared vision within the subject team. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a creative, exciting and stimulating English or Maths curriculum across the school. You will develop schemes of work and resources for KS2, KS3 and KS4, including differentiation to meet the needs of all students. You will support the performance management of staff within the subject, in relation to their role as a subject teacher and tutor. You will also make a positive contribution to the development of school strategies that impact on teaching, learning, achievement, staff development and student welfare.

What you will need to succeed

For this role, you will need to have curriculum or department lead experience. You will ideally have experience of teaching within a special school setting or be familiar with providing an inclusive curriculum for students with SEN needs. You will be confident in curriculum design, development and implementation.

What you will get in return

As well as receiving a competitive salary, this is a rewarding role where you can join a school that is growing quickly, a school with a family feel who strive to offer the best level of education to students. This role will offer you great experience with opportunity to lead and manage a department in order to secure high quality teaching and learning.
