Learning Support Advisor

Pay - £21.47ph

Duration - 3 months

Work pattern - Hybrid

Location - SE/Remote

A great opportunity has arisen within a leading emergency services organisation. They are looking for an experience and knowledgeable learning support professional. The successful candidate will be tasked with providing a comprehensive learning support service to all staff within the organisation.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Contribute to the development of a client focused culture by identifying service delivery demands and devising means of assessing customer requirements and monitoring service provision.
  • To pro-actively provide appropriate, high quality, professional learning support advice and support to all Brigade staff on neurodiverse related matters.
  • At the direction of the Occupational Psychologist to give advice and provide support and briefings on neurodiverse issues.
  • To provide screening in order to identify any risk of neurodiverse conditions and refer for full diagnostic assessment if required or occupational health for other conditions.
  • To provide a one-to-one consultation and screening for staff at risk of learning difficulties.
  • To provide reasonable adjustments for selection and recruitment, training and the workplace including referring staff to Access to Work for funding.
  • In consultation with relevant stakeholders, generate and share good practice in the provision of learning support.
  • Assist, as required, in the review and development of corporate policies, procedures, and management guidance.
  • To undertake research into neuro diverse matters and make recommendations to Brigade managers as required.
  • To provide day to day management of the Learning Support budget, provide reports as required on expenditure to the Occupational Psychologist.
  • Contributes to budget setting and ensures services are delivered to budget and reclaim reimbursement from Access to Work as appropriate.
  • To participate fully in the function and development of the Learning Support Team, including developing team objectives and performance indicators
  • To represent the Occupational Psychologist at meetings/hearings/case conferences/working groups as required.
  • To participate on grievance, disciplinary, probation and other management panels.

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent comprehensive knowledge of the application of conditions of service, good professional HR practice and current employment legislation
  • Experience of working within and advising in an occupational environment at a middle management level
  • Experience of screening for neurodiverse conditions and in conducting workplace assessment.
  • Experience in advising on reasonable adjustments in the workplace for assessment and selection processes and development / training requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in order to work with internal and external contacts at all levels ensuring high standards of customer care.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in order to undertake presentations, expressing complex or difficult messages to diverse audiences, and drafting reports, briefing and procedure notes often of a complex nature.
  • Numerical skills in order to collate, interpret and present financial and statistical information.
  • Knowledge and understanding of neurodiverse difficulties and reasonable adjustments that can be employed to support staff.
  • An understanding of screening tools available to screen for neurodiverse conditions.
