Their payment systems underpin the services that enable funds to be transferred between people and institutions, processing 8.8 billion transactions worth £7 trillion through Bacs Direct Credit, Direct Debit, Faster Payments, and cheques.
Our client is working to transform the way payments are delivered in the UK via a landmark project to implement the next generation best-in-class retail payment capability for the UK, alongside standards and rules to ensure that these payments are initiated, routed and processed correctly. This project will ensure that future generations can rely on a payments infrastructure and payment services that are secure, efficient and operate on a 24/7 basis, every day of the year.
The Senior Planning Manager will be part of the Planning team that sits in the Programme Management Office (PMO). The Planning team is responsible for pulling together the workstream plans into a single integrated programme plan and ensure it is structurally correct.
The jobholder will be responsible for:
Working with the workstreams and ensuring their plans are fit for purpose and complete
Pulling the workstream plans together into a single integrated programme plan, ensuring it is structurally correct
Tracking milestones in the programme plan and report on any exceptions
Provide reporting on upcoming milestones as well as completed milestones
This work will require close collaboration with other parts of the programme.
Lead on planning activity and the use of best practice in planning and reporting
Provide expert advice for team members and project community
Challenge and test project assumptions to ensure that plans are realistic and achievable
Support the project manager to identify options to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, resource levelling and rescheduling of activities
Ensure that stakeholder responsibilities and needs are understood and addressed in reporting arrangements
Monitor and analyse information, reporting progress, slippage and highlighting areas of risk and opportunity
Provide expert advice on planning processes throughout the lifecycle of the project
Skills and experience required
Planning in a complex programme environment
Problem solving and the ability to consider different perspectives. Seeking clarity from multiple sources and being able to understand and simplify complex scenarios.
Sound interpersonal skills to interact effectively across stakeholder groups and generate understanding of deeply technical concepts.
Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of seniority, including regulators.
Exemplary document production, grammatical and MS Office application skills.
Experience of working as project planner or has held a role within a project team with good knowledge of project planning, a PMO or as a project manager or work stream lead of a small project
