Position : Design Manager
Sector : Mechanical services, M&E, HVAC
Location : Yorkshire
Salary Package : Negotiable according to experience but likely to be £45,000-£60,000

About the role :

Responsible for and, part of, the mechanical design team
Overseeing a small team producing detailed HVAC designs
Work with sales and estimating to develop concept designs, estimates and budgets to a wide-ranging variety of projects.
Support the site operations team and be able to make informed decisions on all mechanical services matters.
Managing the engineering team
Leading design teams, managing resources, ensuring design quality and ensuring senior/design engineers are working to company policies and systems.
Attend site meetings where necessary
Review enquiries and provide concept designs and costings
Assist in tender preparation including specification writing
Checking and verifying concept designs from Mechanical Team engineers.
Manage the production of detailed designs for a wide range of systems which will include sizing of chillers, air conditioning, AHU's, pipework, air flows etc.
Check and confirm design calculations for mechanical designs, including the calculation of heat losses, heat demands, flow rates, pump/fan sizes, pipe/duct sizes etc.
Requirements

• A good understanding Psychrometric data, humidity control and CHP is desirable but not essential.
• Minimum of Degree qualified within Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a strong collaborator with team working skills and an experienced line manager.
• Charted Engineer or working towards with professional body registration such as CIBSE or IET
