Parking Design Technician Officer (SO2) role available with London borough for the public sector paying £18ph - £25ph, with a 3+ month rolling contract.Your new company
The purpose of this Council's parking department is to provide a safe, fair, consistent and transparent service which meets the need of their residents, businesses and visitors, in line with key requirements of their parking strategy. This post will play a key role within the parking design team which focuses on the development, design, consultation and delivery of complex parking projects including the delivery of an ambitious controlled parking zone programme which aims to reduce parking stress, provide safer and improved parking for road users, reduce congestion and improve air quality. The specific responsibilities of the post relate to: The design and implementation of complex parking schemes and technical parking initiatives following consultation with internal and external stakeholders (including Members, residents, businesses, external organisations such as TfL and the emergency services).Your new role
You will lead on the design and onsite implementation of new parking controls including new signs, road markings, posts and other parking restrictions and infrastructure to ensure schemes are delivered on time, within budget and consistent with the priorities of the Council's parking strategy. You will carry out maintenance of parking infrastructure including signs, road marking and post both on a routine and enquiry led basis as required to ensure efficient and legal enforcement may be undertaken. You will inspect, erect and maintain parking suspensions across the borough ensuring accuracy and quality is always met for enforcement purposes. Full records of suspensions are to be kept and evidence taken onsite for reference and auditing purposes. Also, you will carry out site inspections to ensure planned works have been completed and suspension not overrun and to remove suspensions as a when required. The role will also require you to undertake on site assessment of on and off-street parking controls to determine parking scheme design and required infrastructure. Represent the Council when liaising with the general public on a face-to-face basis to resolve complex and challenging enquiries. Provide expertise and advice on new and existing parking schemes, including static and moving traffic related projects and remain up to date with new industry initiatives.
