Assistant Category Manager - £22- £28k (FTC minimum of 6 months)

  • Support in the delivery of strategic procurement initiatives on a specific/allocated portfolio of sourcing categories in compliance with EU procurement legislation.
  • Support Category Managers and procurement team in and end to end tendering process in line with public procurement regulations and Tower governance.
  • Support category managers in managing a defined set of categories within a Tower across a number of NHS trusts.
  • Support Category Managers in their role of efficiently and effectively delivering procurement services, within a specific category, maximising value for money opportunities, mitigating risks through robust project management, process improvement and total cost ownership modelling.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Have a good understanding of procurement procedures in the NHS or other public sector bodies.
  • An awareness of contract and procurement law including public sector procurement directives.
  • Excellent Knowledge of customer relationship management and have a confident, articulate and engaging manner.
  • Be commercially driven and have a results focused attitude, and the ability to respond positively to pressure and demanding deadlines.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experienced in having a busy and varied workload, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and achieving demanding deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills and an excellent knowledge of Excel.
  • Experienced in analysing large amounts of data, spotting trends and anomalies, with an exceptional eye for detail and accuracy.
