Hourly pay rate: Mornings - £19.67 PAYE / £25.01 Umbrella, Afternoons - £21.12 PAYE / £26.90 Umbrella
Shifts: Mornings and Afternoons
Duration: Ongoing contract
As a key member of the Test Department you will be responsible for the technical support required to test vehicles produced from the assembly line to the certified serviceable standards and to the highest of customer expectations. The Test Specialist will be a focal point for Quality control of vehicle-borne systems through stages of production (including internal and external suppliers) to functional testing and customer acceptance.
The Test Specialist will manage all the activities related to:
*Providing first point, line side support to MS staff on routine testing of rolling stock, at all points of test process, to include Single Car Test, Unit test, Dynamic test and Train
*Work with the Engineering and Quality teams to prove out test specifications and modifications for release to MS staff.
*Perform on train functional testing along with Verification and Validation.
*Attend Fitness to Test (FTT) with V&V team and System engineers. BT Functional Architects will support for the FTTs however if the Functional Testing Engineer is found competent then they will be free to attend independently.
*Analyse TPR (test problem report) and defects generated on train as part of testing. TPRs will also be analysed by BT Functional Architects and final technical decision will be taken by BT Functional Architects
*Analyse the testing logs generated by V&V team during tests.
*Perform investigation on train to de-bug issues and report root cause with recommended solutions.
*Minimum five years' experience in a position of technical authority within a manufacturing or maintenance environment and can demonstrate that your understanding of an engineering discipline meets or exceeds HND level.
*A firm understanding of the design and manufacturing process, particularly relating to electrical systems.
*Detailed knowledge of multiple train systems and able to understand their interworking relationship.

*Ability to work individually, as well as part of a team.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
