At present, opportunity and access to high-quality experiences for Scotland's youngest children is still influenced significantly by social and economic factors including where they are born and live, and their background. For Scotland's children to be loved and nurtured, have ambitions and a fair start in life, and grow-up to pursue their aspirations and meet their potential then any barriers of inequality need to be removed.
Early Years Scotland is our national charity for children from pre-birth to the age of 5 and provide every child in the country with high-quality experiences that enrich their lives and provide an equal and excellent start in life. Their work is broad and encompasses working directly with young children and their families, and a professional learning academy through to advocacy and advice around policy, practice and legislation.
A team of qualified early years professionals bring considerable experience and knowledge in early learning and childcare policy and practice to the charity. The services delivered aim to strengthen and improve confidence, attachment, transitions, interactions, shared learning, the home learning environment and attainment in young children.
Following the retirement of a long-standing member of the Early Years Scotland team, the charity is recruiting a Finance Manager. Part of the Senior Leadership Team, this is a varied and rewarding role within a collaborative, friendly, family-focussed team where there is a passion for supporting young children and their families. This role will require someone who will provide financial management including day-to-day bookkeeping, board reporting, funding application budgets, maintaining organisational budgets and banking. As a charity, experience of third sector financial management including working with restricted and unrestricted funding and reporting to OSCR is required.
