Robertson Bell are helping this excellent international development organisation whilst they recruit for a permanent Internal Auditor. Reporting into a member of the Executive team and working extremely closely with the Finance Director you will be responsible for providing key support and expertise to the wider organisation related to the internal audit, compliance reviews and carrying out ad hoc investigations.

Duties for this role will include:
  • Liaise with overseas finance staff and carry out audits on over ten countries.
  • Review processes and systems and work on capacity building with the in-country teams.
  • Act as the lead when designing audit assignments, drafting the annual audit plan and working with the Finance Director on the audit strategy.
  • Ensuring a culture of risk awareness solid internal controls and processes.
  • Carrying out reviews of grant audits.
  • Assist with the external audit working closely with the finance team.
  • Maintain and develop a register for project audits and grants.
  • Work on special projects and carry out analysis as required by the Executive team.
  • Carry out yearly reviews on the efficiencies of internal controls and systems and suggest any necessary changes.
  • Effectively establish areas of weakness in processes and work with senior management to drive efficiency across these.
  • Full responsibility for producing detailed reports for non-financial stakeholders at every stage of the audit process.

This is an excellent opportunity for an audit specialist who ideally has had previous experience within an international charity setting. This Internal Auditor role will best suit someone who enjoys partnering with the wider organisation and has strong attention to detail. The role will be based at the charity's central London head office with the opportunity to work regularly from home.

The successful candidate will:
  • Be experienced in departmental strategic internal audit and keen to further skills and experience in this area.
  • Ideally come from a charity or public sector background.
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with Senior Stakeholders, challenging their ways of working where necessary.
  • Ideally hold a full finance or audit qualification (IIA, ACA, ACCA or CIPFA).
