A secondary school in the Trafford area of Greater Manchester is looking for a Teaching Assistant who can specifically speak Dari (Persian - Afghanistan) and will be able to support young people at the school who only speak this language.
The school are due to have a number of students arrive at the school from Afghanistan and are looking for support to be put in place to allow them to transition into school life here in England much more smoothly. There will be a language and cultural barrier which needs to be overcome and so any Teaching Assistant who can speak Dari and converse with these students is ideal.
The successful Teaching Assistant would be working within the classroom and with small groups of students supporting them with their English and enabling them to access the curriculum and small amounts of work being set. There will also be an element of relationship building and support required given that some of these students have will have only been in the country for a short period of time or potentially just arrived. The school are looking for an experienced TA or an individual who is experienced at supporting young people, but this is not essential.
Highlights of the English as an Additional Language TA role (EAL TA):
Opportunity to work within the main classroom setting as well as on a 1:1 basis as required
Full time TA role starting as soon as possible (ideally in January 2022)
Pay ranging between £1350 - £1450 per month dependent upon experience and specific hours to be confirmed
Support students who are classified as international arrivals and those who have language barriers (Dari)
Support students in speaking Dari and overcoming language barriers
The school is situated in the Trafford area and is particularly focussed on making school life as easy for students as possible. The successful TA would also benefit from having had experience of working with students from all backgrounds and those with EAL, from a Muslim, Bangladeshi and Islamic Faith background.
