The Employer:Now recruiting a Finance Director, New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) is the first new (radically different) higher education establishment to launch in the UK for 40 years. We are transforming the way our engineers learn; bridging the gap between education, practical learning experiences and employment.
The Finance Director:
We're looking for a self-starter, independent thinker; a commercially astute, proven financial manager with grit, gravitas, excellent communication, and people management skills. This role will suit those with drive and ambition, sound (accounting and finance) qualifications and experience to match the brief below, along with the flexibility to 'roll your sleeves up' and work as part of an established senior management team, participating fully and actively in the corporate management and governance of this exciting and ground-breaking organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of the Senior Leadership Team in the production of the organisation's strategic plan
* Develop financial strategies to support the organisation's objectives
* Support the development and coordination of annual and mid-term business planning arrangements, support decision making and performance monitoring (including KPIs, targets and benchmarks)
* Ensure the highest standards of integrity in financial management are observed and adhered to
* Analyse the financial climate and market trends to assist senior executives in creating strategic plans for the future.
* Produce financial statements / Financial Reporting
* Oversee, review, and adhere to the budgets for each business department, and assist in budgetary planning
* Responsible matters pertaining to banking, debtor funding, cash management and all other financial transactions
* Supervise the Finance Manager and other employees in the facilitation of day-to-day operations (including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll etc.)
* Responsible for information provision relating to financial risk and performance management
* Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, and ensure that a procurement strategy is produced, monitored, and regularly updated
* Preparation of statutory accounts and tax submissions; compliance with HMRC legislation
* Staff management maximization efficiency whilst ensuring a good team ethic is fostered and maintained
Applicant Requirements
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA with post qualification experience at senior/director level
* Experience of financial management within the public and/or private sector, similarly within a smaller organization/ start up may prove useful
* Proven and clear understanding of planning and managing financial and staffing resources, establishing, and managing financial systems, and strong technical knowledge of financial systems
* Experience of the education (or similar) environment desirable but not essential
* Proven ability to establish and build excellent collaborative relationships with key internal and external parties
* Excellent presentation, advocacy, and communication skills; strong character, team player, the ability to inspire, coach and motivate others to deliver excellent and efficient services
* Ethical, flexible, collaborative an eye for detail
Finance Director, Salary & Benefits
* Basic pay range £65-70,000 per annum (dependent upon experience and qualification)
* Pension with company contribution of up to 12%
* 30 days annual leave plus statutory holidays plus additional organisation closure days
