Job Description

Transport Technician (Flood Prevention)
Waverley Court

Salary: £26,393 - £31,484
Hours: 36 per week

An opportunity has arisen within Roads & Transport Infrastructure for the permanent post of Transport Technician, based normally at Waverley Court, but at time of writing working from home due to the pandemic restrictions.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to undertake this challenging but highly rewarding role. The successful candidate should have an interest in drainage and flood prevention works, and previous experience will be beneficial.

Duties may include:
  • The inspection of flood prevention infrastructure, watercourses, reservoirs and coastal defences;
  • Assessment of flooding and development of solutions;
  • Preparation of maintenance contracts (including outline design);
  • Procurement and management of contractors and consultants;
  • Liaison with statutory bodies to gain necessary approvals;
  • Risk assessments;
  • Site Supervision;
  • Preparation of engineering sketches and drawings;
  • Drafting technical and non-technical reports and maintaining records;
  • Developing and providing support in relation to an emergency response;
  • Monitoring of and development of flood warning (telemetry);
  • Answering correspondence from various bodies and the public;
  • Attendance at community and stakeholder meetings;
  • Undertaking duties under the CDM Regulations;
  • Deputising for Engineers and the Senior Engineer within the team.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
