Are you looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant role within Blackburn?

A primary school on the outskirts of Blackburn is looking for a Teaching Assistant to occupy a SEN Teaching Assistant role to work with a pupil in Year 3, beginning ASAP until at least July. The role is a on a long- term temporary basis starting in ASAP and continuing until July 2022. Due to funding for the right candidate this role will extend each academic year for the right candidate. This role is initially part time and will increase to full time when the EHCP is in place for the child.

As a SEN Primary Teaching Assistant, you will possess an obvious passion for education. You will need to have empathy, compassion and patience as you will be supporting the most vulnerable children within the school.

This role will require someone who can work on a 1:1 basis with a child in year 3 as well as providing small group interventions. You will be working closely with the SENDCO and class teacher to adapt plans to engage the children. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is to support a child on a 1:1 basis within year 3. The child has ADHD tendencies and requires support while the EHCP is set up. The child is academically working at a year 1 level currently and is currently at risk of dyslexia. Portions of this role will be similar to conventional Teaching assistant role, focusing closely on the pupils needs to make sure they are concentrating and behaving in class. Experience of supporting challenging behaviour, in any capacity, is therefore essential as the school need someone who won't be phased by de-escalating challenging behaviour

  • Hold a L2 or above Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification
  • SEN experience which must include working with Challenging behaviour
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
  • You must have the legal right to work in the UK
