Fantastic opportunity to join a global NBFI as a Director of Business Development. Working alongside the wider business development team and senior management to grow new business revenue across the organisation, specifically in respect of the Agency Services business. The role would have a particular focus on the development of agency services opportunities across key market segments such as fund finance, direct lending, leveraged finance, project finance, high yield and restructuring.

The role will however be flexible and, as part of a supportive and collegiate environment, the successful candidate may at times find themselves working on a variety of different opportunities to support the continued organic growth of the business and to satisfy client needs. The successful candidate will also work with the trust and agency transaction management teams in Europe and the US to support strategic decisions regarding the growth of the delivery teams and to ensure successful onboarding of new mandates.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing the European agency services commercial strategy to accelerate the growth of agency revenue across the business
  • Working with senior management to support the strategic plans for agency services delivery and product development
  • Working with senior management to continually refine the organisational risk appetite for agency services and to be part of the new business acceptance process
  • Monitoring and interpreting market trends, with particular focus on agency opportunities, to help determine the overall strategic direction of the business
  • Developing and fostering key senior relationships across the group

New business
  • Proactively growing new agency services business revenue, through direct origination of opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining a strong network of external business referrers
  • Creating an annual sales and calling plan, and coordinating with peers and colleagues in the wider business to manage progress
  • Preparing quotations, RFPs, presentations and other business development related material as required to support new business opportunities
  • Representing the business at external meetings, relevant industry forums, conferences and seminars as required
  • Undertaking deal by deal risk assessment of new business opportunities in conjunction with company Directors, local MLROs and the divisional CRO

Transaction Management
  • Working closely with the agency services transaction management team to facilitate deal closing and to undertake post-deal close relationship management
  • Setting business development related goals for the agency services transaction management team, and supporting them in the achievement of these goals
  • Responding to deal related queries from clients

  • Contributing to the development of marketing collateral, with particular focus on agency specific material
  • Supported by the central marketing team, raising the profile of our client via social media posts and opinion pieces
  • Supporting the planning and execution of client events
  • Supporting the planning of conferences and other relevant industry events

Skills & Experience:
  • Solid background in Agency/Corporate Trust.
  • Experience in fund finance from a banking perspective, either in the front or middle office, with buy-side contacts covering fund "Head of Operations" (or equivalent) individuals, would be highly desirable. Equally desirable would be contacts with buy-side fund decision-makers on direct lending third-party agent appointments
  • Solid experience building and developing new/existing business
  • Experienced in preparation and delivery of quotes, RFP's and presentations
  • Strong communicator with excellent relationship building skills for internal and external clients.
