The Role

The role will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of enterprise risk throughout the organisation, including controls, policies, and insurance.

The Risk Manager will enable the organisation to identify and manage risk appropriately, enterprise wide. The role will work with all parts of the business to ensure that risks to the successful operation of the business are identified, assessed, and managed appropriately.

Scope and Deliverables

Accountability:
  • Ensure the Risk Management Framework, and all relevant components, are maintained and operated
  • Ensure the Policy Framework, and all relevant components, are maintained and operated
  • Support the Risk Analyst in:

o Ensuring the Enterprise Risk Operations Manual is maintained and operated; and

o Undertaking, maintaining, and evolving Risk Reporting.
  • Lead on the Risk Events process, and all relevant components, ensuring the process is embedded across the organisation
  • Lead on the insurance processes, and all relevant components, ensuring insurance is embedded in organisational processes
  • Deputise for the Head of Risk, as necessary, on Risk Management issues

Deliverables:
  • Work with Risk and Control Owners across the business to help them identify risks, challenge assumptions, and help them develop strategies which improve risk management
  • Monitor and report on organisational compliance with the Risk Management Framework, and all relevant components, including the Policy Framework and Risk Events process
  • Manage the insurance processes, including claims management
  • Prepare information, reports and papers for the Executive Committee, Risk Committee, and the Board to help them understand the business' enterprise-wide risk position
  • Develop and deliver training designed to enhance or strengthen risk management within the business
  • Manage ad hoc work that is required by the ERM team, wider Risk & Compliance Directorate and across other functions

Experience and technical skills
  • A key team player
  • Experience of working in an enterprise risk environment
  • Able to demonstrate commercial acumen
  • Understanding of controls
  • Experience of influencing senior people through reasoned argument to achieve consensus on complex issues
  • Experience of insurance
  • Experience of successfully leading projects through to conclusion in a timely manner
  • Able to use initiative and work independently
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
