WEX Europe is a leading provider of Fuel cards. We manage a range of flexible fuel cards in several key markets across the continent and has an exciting opportunity for a talented Credit Risk Team Leader to join our Credit Team at the Headquarters in Crewe. . In April 2022, we will be relocating to state-of-the art offices in Manchester City Centre. You will be responsible for the European wide Vetting, Monitoring and portfolio management functions.

Credit Risk Team Leads role

Credit Risk Team Leads are responsible for leading and coordinating large group of analysts, ensuring quality assurance and timely delivery, while being the primary responsible for coaching and supervision of the team of Credit Risk.

Credit Risk Team Lead are expected to have an advanced understanding of credit risk

Role responsibilities
  • Operational management of all the Credit Risk functions
  • Management and ownership of the application process and monitoring actively drawing Customers by Country and Portfolio - in line with commercial appetite vs bad debt levels
  • Overtrade management where the customer's exposure can rapidly change
  • Manage and maintain multiple Customer insurance policies - including financial reassessments and application for cover, reporting in line with the different insurance policies and working with external Credit Insurers and brokers
  • Daily management of higher authority underwriting within own approval level, Case referrals to Credit Manager, Head of Credit and Credit Committee for complex requests and tenders.
  • Responsible for WES Compliance to the Sanctions program - facilitating the screening process ensuring that transactions are not conducted with prohibited individuals or entities
  • Accountable for adherence to Credit Policy
  • Accountable for adherence to Best Practice relating to processes and procedures, managing and implementing continuous improvement of all Risk functions
  • Ensuring all eligible Customers are monitored through preferred Credit agencies managing the business overall risk level
  • Maintain and develop business reporting and audit controls
  • Assist Credit Manager with originating and delivering new ideas & solutions to improve customer experience and team productivity
  • Lead continuous improvement in key areas of focus;
  • Communications and Customer management between Credit and Account managers
  • Country Specialist teams - developing Country knowledge, expertise and relationships
  • Country Credit Policy audit reviews - bad debt performance
  • Accountable for Country and team level performance, including efficiency, effectiveness and internal stakeholder relationships
  • Setting and driving strong engagement to Business goals by Country, Team and individuals
  • Strong engagement with all WES people, through transparency, clear communication and understanding that we share the same goals
  • Maintain a strong focus on team leadership and development through coaching, training and mentoring, including customer, process, system, industry and product
  • Involvement in wider development projects as Credit representatives

· Some international travel may be required

Credit Risk Team leader Requirements and Experience

Minimum Required for Consideration
  • Knowledge of underwriting in European Countries in a B2B environment
  • Competency with assessing company financial statements - balance sheets, P&L statements
  • Effective Leadership - decision making, problem-solving, ability to lead and motivate
  • Ability to mentor, develop and improve skills of a team
  • Senior relationship management
  • Ability to maintain co-operative and effective working relationships
  • Adaptable to organisational change requirements
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
  • Strong communication and people skills

Preferred Qualifications & Experience for Consideration
  • Senior Credit Analyst / Team Leader experience
  • Experience within payment cards and / or Fuel Card Industry
  • Experience of leading through change
  • Experience in developing processes and procedures
