Category Manager/Lead, Ingredients - Innovative Food Business
£50k - £60k per annum + 7.5% bonus + pension + Private healthcare, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays - West London
An outstanding opportunity has come up for an innovative food business who are growing their Procurement team and looking for a commercially driven category manager/lead with extensive experience in the food industry. You will have a strong background working collaboratively with NPD teams and have a good network across agents and factories.
A recently appointed Head of Procurement is transforming the way procurement operates, which is traditional quite transactional, into a highly performing strategic procurement function which has buy in from the c-suite. As the Category Lead for Ingredients, you will be managing c.£15-16M currently across roughly 200 items. This will suit someone who is operating as a Category Manager in a similar role that is looking for more autonomy and to be part of a small team where you can drive change. Alternatively if you are operating in a Senior Buyer capacity and looking to step into a Category Manager / Lead role, then this could perfect.
What the role involves:
Develop and implement Procurement Strategy for the Ingredient's Category.
Responsible for managing the end to end process for procurement, from evaluation to contract management and supplier management.
Negotiate costs, lead times, MOQs etc with suppliers
Partner with key internal stakeholders (Technical, NPD, Brand, etc) for all ingredient requirements, working to achieve best value for the business, and deliver excellent customer service, promoting and executing the procurement strategy
Identify product mix changes to improve the value proposition, working with Internal Stakeholders to bring these to market.
Understand the commodity markets for the categories they purchase
Source from European and Global Markets as required for current and NPD product, providing market knowledge and insight.
The person we hope to find:
Procurement experience within FMCG, with Ingredients/Packaging experience
Understanding of Category Management, Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management Strategies
Ability to develop stakeholder relationships, across a large organisation.
Confident and Motivated Self Starter, able to prioritise workload as required.
Experienced with running benchmarking and tenders for a business, ensuring clear communication strategy in place
