A vital position is now available with Stockport Council as an Information and Records Manager. This role is available immediately on an initial 3-month temporary contract.

This position is available remotely. The rate of pay is negotiable dependant on experience.

What is the role?

Stockport Council are now looking to appoint an experienced Information and Records Manager to lead the implementation of Microsoft 365 as a records management system for the Council.

You will play a central role in the development and management of the organisation-wide Records Management programme to ensure effective policies and processes are in place.

How will you do this?
  • Lead the record management aspects of the migration to SharePoint/ Microsoft 365.
  • Working within a project team, ensure information is reviewed and managed appropriately and support change management and embed benefits of changes.
  • Lead the promotion of good RM and help teams identify and manage risks and issues.
  • Ensure appropriate guidance is available to staff by updating existing guidance and making it suitable for translation to M365.
  • Advise the Council on the implementation of sensitivity labelling and retention policies within M365.

What background do you need?
  • Previous demonstrable experience of implementing M365 as a RM system
  • Strong knowledge of standards and frameworks/ codes of practice for RM and a thorough knowledge of the principles of electronic document management systems and modern records storage systems
  • Background of developing policies and strategies related to RM and providing advice and guidance to teams on preparing their records for migration
  • Experience of creating and implementing records retention and disposal schedules and business classification schemes
  • Ability to conduct data audits and possess excellent organisational planning skills
