The Physiological Society
As a learned society, we promote physiology and support those working in the field by organising world-class scientific meetings, offering grants for research, collaboration and international travel, and by publishing the latest developments in our leading scientific journals, The Journal of Physiology, Experimental Physiology and Physiological Reports.
The Media and Communications Officer is a new role, responsible for sourcing, writing, and sharing stories about physiology, the work of our members and our journal research. By putting these stories at the centre of our communications, they will showcase physiology as exciting, relevant, and support our membership communications.
They will manage our member magazine and commission, write and copy-edit articles for the magazine, blog and website. They will work with external sources (such as magazines/newspapers/radio/other organisations channels) to place physiology and the work of our members in their output. They will also be responsible for our email marketing and use this channel to communicate key messages about Society membership, activities and events to members, external stakeholders and event attendees.
Key responsibilities of the role
Proactively identify opportunities to tell compelling stories about physiology research and the work of physiologists through press releases, news articles and blogs, showcasing physiology as relevant and topical.
Coordination of the editorial and production of our quarterly member magazine, Physiology News.
Coordinate email marketing activities in support our membership, events and other Society objectives.
Support marketing activities of The Society by providing written material, such as promotional copy.
The position is full time. We are currently working from our head office in Farringdon 2 days per week, working at home the rest of the time.
